Commissioned by The Department of the US Air Force, in collaboration with The CRS Group+Metcalf & Eddy of Houston, Texas, I designed fabric showrooms for the International Furniture Procurement Exhibit in Paris. FTL Associates finalized the working drawings for attachments.
The fabric panels and wood runners, posts & finishing strips were fabricated in New York and shipped to Paris. The installation took place on three floors of Les Mercuriales, the area totaling 30,000 sq.ft, with ceilings 8' high. Working with four teams of workmen (one crew following the other), we installed 47 fabric structures in 9 days. The fabric was stapled to wooden runners placed on the carpeted floor and fastened to a hung ceiling with special clips (see Runners & Attatchments). After the exhibit ended, the area was cleared in 3 days, the repair of damages to interior surfaces amounted to $180.
