A study model was designed for a roof deck environment at The Manhattan Community Rehabilitation Center to provide shade, play areas, and privacy to the residents. The fenced in roof deck, accessible by elevator, was 120'x 60' across with a gymnasium netting laid over a grid of cables 16' above the deck. The upper edges of fabric panels, reinforced with rope, would attach to cables, and the bottom edges, reinforced with vinyl tubing, would hook to movable concrete blocks. The environment was to be washed on location by hose, stored during the winter, and erected by the residents in spring.
The estimated cost at the time was $15,000.
